After several months of fundraising for our nominated charity, we are pleased to announce that we have surpassed our target!!

We also visited the Camp this year to experience the event, which was hosted deep within the Snowdonia mountains.

What is Wirral Camp?

Wirral Camp is a local scheme that organises a week’s adventure holiday in North Wales for disadvantaged kids. The Camp has been active in different forms for over 80 years and is run entirely by volunteers, offering a fantastic range of activities from arts and crafts to canoeing and Nerf games.

The holiday camp brings together children from different schools, neighbourhoods and backgrounds too. It’s all about fostering friendships, teamwork, and resilience. The Camp organisers want youngsters to push their boundaries, try new things, and, most importantly, just be kids – regardless of any challenges they may face in their personal lives.

Fundraising Recap

Following our 21 mile sponsored walk from Southport to Liverpool last year, plans for 2025 were on a much broader scale! Our team committed to three key events upon which we were able to start our fundraising:

Surely all that would be worth a few pounds in support?! 😂 And so it proved… with over £5,000 in donations collected from our supporters.

Our Day at Wirral Camp

The setting was stunning.

A grey stone lodge nestled into the green backdrop of the Welsh hills, with a woodland and river providing a soundtrack of rushing water and soothing birdsong.

It was the perfect setting for the biggest water fight we have ever seen!

Plas Gwynant Outdoor Education Centre is the long-term home for Wirral Camp – and the first time that Yozu had visited the location – we were massively impressed.

Around 40 children attended this year’s week-long holiday, and they were treated to outdoor pursuits such as caving, climbing, and canoeing. What’s so impressive about the Camp is the volunteers’ limitless creativity when keeping the kids entertained!

This year’s special activity was a mystery sweet hunt in a smoke-filled games room (dry ice!), specially lit in neon and full of enemies waiting to snatch any treasure collected by the stealthy participants!

You can’t fail to be inspired by the imagination the team draw from to set up an unforgettable activity.

The Water Fight

It was a scene straight out of the epic 90s film Braveheart. Two tribes, ready to go to war. The facing sides of a large field playing host to two divisions of excitable kids armed to the teeth with every kind of water pistol you could imagine.

Our CTO Justyn and COO Paul were nominated as captains of each team and cordially met in the middle of the battleground to launch the greatest battle of our time. Once the scream of “attack!” bellowed out across the mountainscape, 40 kids unleashed a watery hell.

Thankfully, peacetime was restored once the pizza oven was lit and we all gathered back at the lodge to reflect on the great war that had just taken place, which we nobly agreed to call a draw in the interests of diplomacy!

It’s hard to imagine a more authentic example of why Wirral Camp is so important. The sheer, overwhelming excitement on the faces of kids allowed to run around a field trying to win a water fight is precisely the kind of memory they will never forget. And neither will the adults!

A Resounding Success

Having attended this year’s Camp, it wouldn’t be unfair to call this year’s support a massive success. The kids had a wonderful experience once again, and we were able to contribute significantly to making the holiday an offer of the quality of experience that will live long in their memory.

We want to thank everyone who raised awareness, made donations, and got involved in all the activities we created to support Wirral Camp ’25. We’ve seen firsthand how positive an impact it has on the children attending, and we are already looking forward to helping again next year.
