A Fun-Filled Holiday Experience for Children's Wellbeing

Wirral Camp is a fantastic annual event organised and funded by the efforts of long-standing volunteers, who provide a unique holiday for children from different backgrounds.

The Camp week is a safe, supportive and fun environment that is designed to deliver a positive physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing experience.

From arts, crafts and canoeing, to Nerf games, talent shows and gorge walking – there’s something for everyone!

Yozu has made Wirral Camp it’s nominated charity in order to help support the continued good work of the organisers.

The Background.

For many children, Wirral Camp is their first time away from home, which can be daunting for both the parents and children!

The voluntary initiative dates back to its origins in the 1940s, where the Camp was originally set up under canvass tents. This has evolved into more practical lodgings indoors, allowing the children to enjoy themselves whatever the weather!

The organisers pride themselves on creating a fun environment and work hard together to promote this single goal to create an atmosphere where everyone can enjoy a holiday, make new friends and try out new things.

The Challenge

The Camp is funded entirely by donations and any relevant grants that the charity might be successful in applying for.

Each year, fundraising becomes more difficult, and without the support of individuals and businesses, it would be impossible to provide the quality experience to the children that the organisers strive for.

Many of them invest their own money in purchasing materials or building/acquiring equipment to ensure the kids enjoy themselves.

Equally, the Camp also relies on the voluntary time of its organisers, as well as any donations of toys, food, games or other types of entertainment.

How can your business help?

Businesses can support WC in a variety of ways:

  • Direct donations
  • Fundraising within organisational networks
  • Equipment contributions: arts & crafts supplies, active toys, games
  • Volunteering at the Camp

What would donations provide for the kids?

The Sefton Coastal Path Challenge

On June 8th, 2024, 15 of us from Yozu completed a 21-mile charity walk from Southport to Liverpool City Centre, raising an amazing £5,605!

This donation helped to send children to Wirral Camp for a week of outdoor activities in a new location in Llangollen, North Wales.

We were proud to contribute to an unforgettable holiday filled with fun, learning, and new friendships.

Every step of the walk brought us closer to making a real difference!

A Day at Wirral Camp.

We had the privilege of spending a day at Wirral Camp, and what an incredible experience it was!

From seeing the children enjoy outdoor activities like canoeing and scrambling to witnessing the teamwork and friendships being formed, it was a day filled with joy and laughter. Our time at the camp gave us a deeper appreciation for the positive impact it has on the kids, and we're proud to be supporting such a meaningful cause.
