Our nominated charity fundraising is back for 2025 – and this time we’ve levelled-up with 3 different events to challenge our team!
Once again, we’re supporting the fantastic Wirral Camp this year to help disadvantaged kids have fun, make friends and have a whale of a time!
The Camp is a fantastic event that provides a unique holiday for children from different backgrounds, providing positive mental and physical wellbeing.
The Background
For many children, the Wirral Camp is their first time away from home, which can be daunting for both the parents and children! The team has supported this cause – in association with the St Vincent De Paul Society – on a voluntary basis dating back to 1940!
The organisers pride themselves on creating a fun environment where children from a variety of backgrounds can enjoy a nice holiday and this can only be achieved by the volunteers and children all working towards the same goal.
The Camp is about working together to create an atmosphere where everyone can enjoy a holiday, make new friends and try out new things.
From arts and crafts and canoeing, to Nerf games and gorge walking, there’s something for everyone.
The Challenge
The Camp is funded entirely by donations and any relevant grants that the charity might be successful in applying for.
Each year, fundraising becomes more difficult, and without the support of individuals and businesses, it would be impossible to provide the quality experience to the children that the organisers strive for.
Many of them invest their own money in purchasing materials or building/acquiring equipment to ensure the kids enjoy themselves.
Equally, the Camp also relies on the voluntary time of its organisers, as well as any donations of toys, food, games or other types of entertainment.
The Mission
This summer, various team members from Yozu will be cycling, abseiling and running for this great cause and we’re excited to share the details:
🏃 Chester Half Marathon (18th May)
⛪ Abseil down Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral (21st June)
🚲 70km Chester ➡️ Liverpool Bike Ride (26th July) – with a ferry across the Mersey finish…that’s the sea bit 😁
We’re hoping to raise at least £2,000 to send disadvantaged children aged 9-11 on a memorable summer holiday to the camp – held this year in Snowdonia, N. Wales – for what will be an action-packed outdoor activity week!
In 2024, our supporters helped us reach the amazing total of £5.5k when our team walked over 21 miles along the Sefton Coastal path from Southport to Liverpool City Centre – and we would really love to hit that again as a stretch goal!
How Support Can Make a Difference
Our aim is simple: we want to help raise funds to enable these kids to build confidence, learn new skills, and have a blast together and it’s amazing how even the smallest donations can make a difference.
- £4 would pay for a Wirral Camp T-shirt for a child
- £10 would pay for a child’s entrance to an indoor fun centre
- £20 would pay for a child’s food for the day
- £50 would pay for an activity with a qualified instructor such as canoeing, abseiling, cave exploring or gorge walking
- £100 would pay for two days of the holiday for a child
- £335 would provide a carnival day for the children including a giant inflatable ‘foam world’
