Introducing Anton, our Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer.
Yozu:Connected is our blog series that brings you closer to our team to highlight the fantastic work, experience and skills that bring additional value to our client partnerships.
First up is one of Yozu’s newest team members, Anton, who we asked 3 questions to learn more about his background and expertise!
How did you get started in Development?
I’ve always been intrigued by technology, but I used to think that to become an engineer, I needed to have a Computer Science degree. However, I stumbled upon coding bootcamps and decided to enrol in one. After completing the program, I volunteered as a Ruby on Rails developer at a non-profit organization and started landing some minor contract jobs.
How would you describe your day job to someone who isn’t a software engineer?
Web development is like building a house on the internet. You use different tools, like a hammer and nails, to create different parts of the house, like walls, doors, and windows. In web development, you use special computer languages to create different parts of a website, like text, images, and buttons. When you’re done, people can visit your website just like they can visit a house, and they can see all the different parts you built!
What’s one thing that we should know about you?
One thing that you should know about me is that I have been to every WHSmith stores in the UK. I worked as an on-site surveyor and was tasked with conducting a survey of all the stores across the country. It was a challenging but rewarding experience that took about 6 months to complete.
