We’re supporting the fantastic Wirral Camp this year to help disadvantaged kids have fun, make friends and have a whale of a time!
Wirral Camp is a fantastic event that provides a unique holiday for children from different backgrounds, providing physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing in a Vincentian ethos.
The Camp week is a safe, supportive and fun environment that is designed to provide all attendees with a great holiday.
The Background
For many children, the Wirral Camp is their first time away from home, which can be daunting for both the parents and children! The team has supported this cause – in association with the St Vincent De Paul Society – on a voluntary basis dating back to 1940!
The organisers pride themselves on creating a fun environment where children from a variety of backgrounds can enjoy a nice holiday and this can only be achieved by the volunteers and children all working towards the same goal.
The Camp is about working together to create an atmosphere where everyone can enjoy a holiday, make new friends and try out new things.
From arts and crafts and canoeing, to Nerf games and gorge walking, there’s something for everyone.
The Challenge
Team members from Yozu will be walking for this great cause in Summer 2024 and we’re excited to share the details – a 21-mile trek from Southport to Liverpool City Centre on 8th June.
We’re hoping to raise at least £2,000 to send disadvantaged children aged 9-11 on a memorable summer holiday to the camp – held this year in Llangollen, N. Wales – for what will be an action-packed outdoor activity week!
Our aim is simple: we want to help raise funds to enable these kids to build confidence, learn new skills, and have a blast together and it’s amazing how even the smallest donations can make a difference.
- £4 would pay for a Wirral Camp T-shirt for a child
- £10 would pay for a child’s entrance to an indoor fun centre
- £20 would pay for a child’s food for the day
- £50 would pay for an activity with a qualified instructor such as canoeing, abseiling, cave exploring or gorge walking
- £100 would pay for two days of the holiday for a child
- £335 would provide a carnival day for the children including a giant inflatable ‘foam world’
How You Can Support The Camp
We have set up a donation page for our walk if anyone would like to contribute and we wish the very best of luck to the team in June and we hope you can support us in hitting our target!
You can also donate directly to the Camp – or get involved in raising awareness and helping at the Camp itself – via their website.
