Who Are We?

Founded in 2013, Yozu is a rapidly expanding team of designers, developers and engineers that help SMEs and larger blue-chip corporations around the UK and abroad to better leverage technology within their business. We work closely with our clients to deliver solutions that help to transform their business, and take pride (and have fun!) coding solutions to interesting problems.

We take a mature approach to agile software development; we automate where possible, we’re agile where and when it matters, we work collaboratively with our clients, and we ship often and early.

The languages and frameworks we utilise include: Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React, React Native, Java and Spring Boot along with tools such as CodeClimate and Bitbucket Pipelines, JIRA, Digital Ocean, Google Cloud, AWS, Git.

The role is based in a vibrant area of Liverpool City Centre, in a relaxed and enjoyable work setting. You will be working in a highly collaborative environment and have input into all aspects of production.

 

Role Summary

We are looking for a Graduate Software Developer to join our bespoke software development company consisting of a team of developers with a passion for building scalable and robust solutions that have a big impact for our clients. Our software helps businesses across the UK to grow and expand.

Your input, insight and work will be valued and important to both the company and our clients, and you will get to see your work put into production on a daily basis. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work and providing an unparalleled level of service to our clients.

We’re looking for developers who share a similar level of passion, have a great attitude, and who are committed to producing software and solutions that amaze our clients. Your attitude and aptitude are much more important to us than any other criteria.

On a typical day you will be developing and testing software, fielding questions from clients, updating documentation, refactoring existing code, and designing systems and solutions with the rest of the team.

 

Required Skills

  • 2+ years of experience developing software or services in any mainstream Object Oriented language, in an academic capacity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and motivated personality
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to debug and diagnose in a sensible and methodical manner

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on new and ongoing projects, developing primarily web-based applications and back-end services for a broad range of clients
  • Develop clean, maintainable code
  • Write clear and concise documentation
  • Work with other team members to design systems and solutions
  • Consult and liaise with clients on a daily basis
  • Develop and issue bug fixes
  • QA projects
  • Take part in peer reviews

 

Desirable Experience

  • Developing software and systems using Ruby, React or Java
  • Developing rich web applications (Ruby on Rails, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript)
  • Experience of Agile methodologies such as SCRUM or Kanban
